The Heart of America Development Corporation located in Hays, Kansas, recently appointed Jeter Law Firm partner Chris Sook to its executive board. Chris will fill the role of Vice President for Heart of America's board of directors.
Heart of America is a non-profit corporation originally formed in 1985 to further economic development in the Ellis County region. Recently, Heart of America has partnered with Grow Hays, Inc. to promote real estate development aimed at addressing housing shortages in the Hays area, particularly in the form of affordable single-family homes.
Of his appointment and the firm's involvement in Heart of America, Sook said, "We are like any other small business in this region. When the region grows and prospers, we benefit. For long-term prosperity into the future, we have to take steps to preserve and expand on the quality of life that our rural region can offer. That includes many things, such as great educational facilities for young families and a strong healthcare system. But, it also includes available housing to support population growth.
