Ashley Comeau, Of Counsel with Jeter Law Firm, was one of twenty leaders from across the state who attended the invitation-only 28th Annual Retreat for Rural Leaders near Valley Falls, Kansas, in January. The Inman-based Kansas Sampler Foundation organizes and facilitates the 40-hour retreat, which included discussions focused on issues of childcare, mental health, and, in general, how to help sustain rural communities.
Comeau was also nominated and selected to the inaugural class of the Kansas Bar Association Leadership Academy, which took place in Topeka in February. The Leadership Academy brought together developing leaders of the KBA for two days of intensive leadership sessions, designed to equip participants with the vision, knowledge, and skills necessary to serve as leaders of the legal profession and ambassadors for their communities. Participants were able to interact with leaders from the Kansas Judiciary, including Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Marla Luckert, as well as elected state leaders and fellow KBA members.
“It was an honor to be selected to both of these events,” Comeau said. “Not only did each experience provide invaluable networking opportunities with leaders from all over the state, they both also allowed me to voice concerns and advocate ideas that I have for rural, western Kansas at a state level.”
